ATARI Ludhiana Signs Partnership with Grow Indigo to Advance Carbon Farming

25 November 2025 | New Delhi

ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Ludhiana, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Grow Indigo at the Division of Agricultural Extension, ICAR Headquarters, New Delhi.

The MoU was formally signed between Dr. Parvender Sheoran, Director, ICAR–ATARI Ludhiana, and Mr. Umang Agrawal, Chief Operating Officer, Grow Indigo, in the august presence of Dr. Rajbir Singh, DDG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR; Dr. R.R. Burman and Dr. R.K. Singh, AGDs (AE), ICAR; Dr. Anjani Kumar, Director, ATARI Patna; and Principal Scientists of the Division of Agricultural Extension.

This landmark collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of regenerative and climate-smart agricultural practices that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving soil health, and enhancing farmer livelihoods through the generation of carbon credits. The partnership focuses on field demonstrations, capacity-building, and enhancing extension services across Punjab and potentially other northern states.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Umang Agrawal expressed that the programme is entirely voluntary and free for farmers, ensuring that no financial burden is imposed while they transition towards sustainable farming systems. The initiative will support India’s broader commitments toward agricultural sustainability and climate resilience.
